While it's admirable that emergency planning is becoming more common as part of risk management, the majority of these plans are missing important information. In order to promote the highest likelihood of an excellent outcome, and recovery to operational continuity, emergency plans should include specific data that is critical at the time of the inevitable loss:
- KEY INTERNAL EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- KEY EXTERNAL EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- UTILITY / SYSTEMS LOCATION INFORMATION
- BUILDING'S STRUCTURAL DETAILS
There is simply not enough time available at the time of a loss to seek this information, which leads to lost recovery potential.
ACR's Emergency Response Agreement (ERA) has been created as the central source of all the most useful and pertinent facts for recovery. Over the years, we've seen clearly that clients who completed an ERA with ACR have had better mitigation coordination at first response. Since commercial clients seek to regain operational capability as quickly as possible after a loss, it is only natural that preparation yields superior results...They are back in business faster.
Anyone who has experienced losses as a result of widespread weather events knows that all restoration companies, regardless of size, will hit the limit of capacity (equipment, staff, prior commitments, etc.) quickly. In events like this, ACR commonly receives several hundred calls in one day. There is no way to service everyone properly, so many of those calls will need to be deferred to other mitigation options. Even the world's largest international restoration companies have limits in "CAT" situations.
What's at stake for commercial clients is operational loss of use and operational expense, all of which is disastrous. Signing an ERA with ACR eliminates the possibility of not getting the immediate mitigation response needed to maintain operation continuity to the greatest extent possible.
